Mr Marcel School UI Course [5 weeks - 35 h]
Cines Golem is an independent cinema based in Spain, known for its focus on independent films. Since its founding in 1975, it has become a cultural reference point, offering original version screenings and high-quality programming.
Its audience are film lovers who value alternative offerings and an artistic approach to filmmaking: discerning cinephiles, film students, professionals from the cultural sector, and viewers seeking cinematic experiences beyond the commercial mainstream.

Problem Statement
Despite its reputation, Golem’s current website feels outdated and doesn’t fully capture the brand’s unique identity or commitment to cinema. This redesign aims to refresh its digital presence, improve usability, and create a cleaner, more engaging experience that better reflects the spirit of Cines Golem.
[As part of a Mr. Marcel School project, the objective was to apply theory by creating three digital products that capture Golem’s essence and coexist as a cohesive system. It’s important to note the limited timeframe, as this was an intensive course].

Bench & Insight
We benchmarked independent cinemas, major chains, and cultural spaces to identify key design pillars."Indie" cinemas stand out through unique experiences and personality—and those who succeed digitally don’t replicate, but reinterpret that essence to connect with audiences who see film as art and culture.

Disign pilars
Block dynamism: A strong visual personality helps the site stand out. Varied layouts, bold contrasts, and a thoughtful visual rhythm make navigation more engaging.
Typography: A well-chosen typeface reinforces the content’s essence and creates clear visual hierarchies.
Microinteractions & animations: Subtle animations add depth and dynamism, creating the connection with the cinematic experience.
Color use: Neutral tones let visual content take the lead, while strategic color highlights add emphasis and character.

Result
A significantly more immersive experience, supported by a modern and thoughtful design that captures the unique personality and rich history of Golem cinemas. Every visual and structural element helps convey its cinematic identity, creating a digital presence that feels both authentic and distinctive.

As part of the course, we designed three different digital products for Cines Golem: a responsive website (landing page), a mobile app (purchase flow), and a tablet interface (streaming app home page).
