Bootcamp project

Collaborating with Adriana de la Osa, a representative from ASEAF, we developed a digital solution aimed at increasing the number of foster families in Spain. This led to the creation of "Entre Familias," a website specifically designed to connect hosting families. The platform facilitates support and assistance throughout the entire fostering process, aiding in adaptation and fostering a sense of community among families.

Problem Statement

Over 50,000 children and adolescents are registered in the Spanish system, 53% of whom are in foster care. However, of these 26,500 minors in foster care, only about 35% find placement in foster homes.

This discrepancy presents a significant challenge both for foster families and the children. Integrating an outsider into the family dynamic requires considerable adjustment from both parties. The process involves multiple stages, throughout which many families experience a profound sense of isolation. This scenario underscores a critical need for enhanced support mechanisms throughout the foster care process.

Solution

An online platform for foster families, offering essential support and facilitating connections with volunteers, other foster families who have experienced similar situations, and professionals who can provide assistance throughout the fostering process.

Result

Provide a trusted digital environment where families can access support and information throughout the fostering process, while also equipping ASEAF with a strong database. This valuable resource of information on foster families will help ASEAF's marketing strategies in order to increase the awareness, and increase fostering in Spain.
